UMNO president and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is on a tour of UMNO branches in a bid to regain grassroots support and has urged the leaders and followers to stand by him and not to leave him alone in the party’s struggle. In a speech yesterday (Jan 6) during the UMNO President’s Grassroots Tour for 2024 in Cameron Highlands, Zahid said UMNO members should use social media smartly.
“Don’t leave me alone in this and when someone criticises the party president, don’t just forward to others without replying to them. Do not make things worse by sharing and making them viral. Enough of this,” he said.“I want UMNO to be dominant again and strong enough to face future elections. If this motivation is well disseminated in the party, UMNO will be back stronger on the political scene again.” He added that the party has to resolve internal problems and attract support from non-partisans.
“Use social media to attack our opponents and do not be always nice (to them).”In the meeting, the Barisan Nasional chairman also advised all party members to always be united with the leadership and restore the party’s strength. The presence of more than 300 members involving grassroots leaders for the UMNO Cameron Highlands Division completed the ninth series of the tour. – Jan 7, 2023
