Zahid’s chopper ride is not as costly as the Jana Wibawa scandal, netizens remind Chegubard

PERIKATAN Nasional (PN)-friendly activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin a.k.a. Chegubard found himself ‘charcoal-grilled’ by netizens after he claimed that Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been both wasteful and power abusive by flying back and forth to attend the UMNO Pontian division’s Raya open house on a helicopter.

“In addition to Zahid enjoying the position of getting back his passport, deferring and trying to drop his (corruption) case, his family is also enjoying various positions,” he penned on his Facebook page with pictorial evidence of Zahid posing by the helicopter alongside some UMNO leaders.

“(They) are not only getting a luxurious salary but have also been appointed to the board of large companies; even Zahid’s son-in-law has also been appointed as adjunct professor at a local university.”

But his post got chastised with netizen Abu Bakar ‘educating’ him that the Jana Wibawa scandal which featured PN chairman and Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is way more wasteful “and could destroy the country’s finances”.

Azian Abdul Aziz wondered if the Bersatu operations director in-charge of elections “is craving for the post of GIATMARA deputy chairman (a post which he held since January 2021 but was recently vacated).”

Mikhael Arian lambasted Badrul Hisham for his bias stance: “Would like to ask when Muhyiddin was riding the helicopter from one end to another during the 15th Genera1 Election (GE15), why were you silent? Isn’t this ridiculous?”

Razif Roslan snubbed Badrul Hisham by telling him not to be a busybody. “He’s (Zahid) now Malaysia’s DPM, hence has the right to utilise government assets that commensurate with his position”.

Nazrul Arfan reminded the former PKR member till 2016 when he was sacked by the party that Anwar has forgone his PM’s salary which already entailed savings for the national coffers while ministers of the unity government have also agreed to a 20% salary cut.

“Moreover, there could be further savings from no nonsensical appointments of special ambassadors and advisers with ministerial status in addition to cancellation of direct tenders and re-opening of those tenders which could amount to hundreds of millions,” suggested the netizen.

“How can riding a government-owned helicopter that has been dedicated a privilege for the PM to go to an official function considered a waste? In the past, I used to dislike Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Muhyidin, and Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob but I have never disputed the privilege accorded to any PM, like flying in a helicopter…what the heck, Bad?” – May 2, 2023
