Zahid’s DNAA: Netizens hurl brickbats at DAP for being toothless, displaying high-level hypocrisy

IT was most displeasing to the eyes to read disparaging comments by netizens who reacted angrily to the “Media Statement by DAP’s Secretary-General” posted on the Facebook page of Anthony Loke Siew Fook pertaining to the discharge not amounting to acquittal (DNAA) for Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

This is even as the Transport Minister and Seremban MP having called on out-going (officially retiring on Sept 6) Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun to provide an open explanation regarding the factors that led to the decision of Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Datuk Ahmad Dusuki Mokhtar to drop the charges against the UMNO president.

“This explanation is important to ensure that the confidence of the public and the international community in the country’s legal system is always maintained.”

Added Loke: “DAP will also always uphold the principle of separation of powers between the judicial, executive and legislative branches and to ensure that there is no executive interference in any court case.”

Below are a dozen reactions extracted from the Facebook pages of Loke and DAP (which also posted the statement):

Wong Ang Lai: What else can you do? Toothless statement without actionable consequences.

Chan Sia Hui: PH (Pakatan Harapan) are done. You are losing fast non-Malay votes. I don’t think you can compete with PN (Perikatan Nasional) for Malay votes. People will go for MUDA in next election. PH will be kerajaan satu penggal (one-term government).

Din Harun: If truly sincere, all ministers and deputy ministers from DAP should take leave or resign from executive positions. If not, it clearly shows that DAP is unprincipled and prioritises executive positions.

Pang Toh Tien: YB, really disappointed and already crossed the red line. I hardly see this government baseline holding on (to) law.

Jingwei Leong: Releasing Jibby (incarcerated former premier Datuk Seri Najib Raazak) next? Literally joke of the day, what a shame! Come on Mr Minister, please stop whitewashing, you are losing votes!

Mentera Semerah Padi: There is much silence from the fighters and warriors of anti-corruption, anti-kleptocracy, anti-miscarriage of justice like Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang, Hannah Yeoh, Tony Pua, Fahmi Fadzil, Lim Guan Eng, Mat Sabu (Mohamad Sabu), Teo Nie Ching, Gobind Singh, Ramkarpal Singh, Kasthuri Patto, Nga Kor Ming and Adam Adli.

So it seems that the goal of Reformasi is only to focus on Bang Non (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) becoming Prime Minister and his ‘pets’ are guaranteed with positions.

Lawrence Khan: This is not good. Very bad. The explanation may be difficult to accept. Very disappointing.

Ping Tiong Oong: Leave the unity PH/BN coalition. Be an independent opposition. So what if PAS rule the government? What corruption reforms? Nothing can change.

Leonardo: The AG is appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the advice of the PM. He is also the highest ranking public prosecutor in the country (who is) accountable mainly to the prime minister. That the prosecutor stopped the prima facie case proceedings was totally uncalled for. So, the unity government cannot be spared from scrutiny.

Sanje วาระธาราอยู้: Hypocrisy at the highest level

Fatimah Abu Bakar: Well a very (lethal) weapon for the Opposition to attack PH in their ceramah this week for the coming Johor by-election. I won’t be surprised there will be a low turn-out for this Saturday’s (Sept 9) voting as the people have lost faith in the current government especially Anwar who doesn’t seem to walk the talk. The rakyat are not stupid. So, it’s going to be tough for you guys to explain to the people.

Benson Pang: Thank you for releasing Zahid; you have my vote in opposite in this coming Smpang Jeram by-election.👌 – Sept 5, 2023
