Zulfarhan’s torturers escape the noose: Netizens were not so merciful

THE brutal murder of navy cadet Zulfarhan Osman Zulkarnain is not something Malaysians can easily pass up. Murder takes many forms.

And when murder is done in the name of sadistic pleasure, it speaks volumes of the six perpetrators who have recently escaped the death penalty, only to serve a watered down punishment of 18 years in jail.

Netizens, however, were not amused, considering the horrendous wounds inflicted upon the victim almost eight years ago.

To recap, the victim suffered multiple injuries from a steam iron being pressed on his body among other wounds inflicted.

Cili Hijau said they can then bully people’s children till death because they do not get hanged anyway.

Another netizen pointed out that the perpetrators will get out of jail in 12 years due to good behaviour.

Starry. however, warned that even if they were to be set free, they will be condemned for the rest of their lives.

Frighteningly, Nuursyafiqah added that hopefully these people would find their demise in jail.

Several netizens has since pointed out that Malaysian law may be ineffective or downright stupid, while others claimed the rich could get away with crime.

Note that one of the perpetrators, Muhammad Najib Mohd Razi was represented by renowned lawyer Datuk Hisyam Teh Poh Teik.

One netizen hoped the parents of the victim would remain strong against the injustice posed by the law, adding that none of the family members of the killers even apologised to them.

“Malaysia has not executed prisoners since 2018 when PH took over. The mandatory death penalty has been abolished,” claims one netizen.

He said many who were sentenced to hanging have already had to replace it with prison and flogging, adding that prisoners eat and drink RM35.40 a day, and it was part of the tax money Malaysians pay. —Feb 28, 2025
