“10 more Bersatu MP, including myself, received offers and cash to switch support,” claims Wan Ahmad Fayhsal

BERSATU MPs are being wooed by unity government leaders with promises of financial assistance and projects development for their constituents in order to gain their support, said a Bersatu leader.

Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal claimed that 10 more Bersatu MPs, including himself, had received “offers” such as development projects in those Opposition MPs’ constituencies and cash were tabled to by “operators” to support the federal government.

“We have had a history where the current Prime Minister was charged with abuse of power when he was deputy prime minister,” Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said in a press conference at the Parliament media room today (Nov 14).

“So, it is not strange with what has happened today, the pressure given to Opposition MPs, including myself and some of my friends, to support the government today, especially to the prime minister.

“Many of Bersatu MPs have been identified by operators who offer initial development projects in their respective areas.

“Some are via email, and some are via WhatsApp, and some have met face to face as the video of them meeting the Langkawi MP and the Jeli MP has gone viral. We have proof.”

According to the Machang MP, the so-called “operator” had professionally studied the problems of each area and their potential.

“But it’s all just bait. In fact, to get support from us by bringing allocation offers and cash rewards. We received a call to make a meeting. There’s 10 of us who have had contact with those operators. It’s not fiction.

“Besut MP Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh from PAS, had also received the same offers from the operators,” he added.

Earlier today (Nov 14), Wan Ahmad Fayhsal announced that a police report had been made regarding allegations of bribery, baiting, or threats following the actions of some Perikatan Nasional (PN) MPs who declared their support for the Prime Minister.

Wan Ahmad Fayhsal said the report was made by Bersatu Youth while a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will follow soon.

“A police report has already been made by Bersatu Youth at midnight last night (Nov 13). Some say this (alleged receiving threats) is empty talk and slander.

“No, we have facts and a case. A MACC follow-up report will be made, and a press conference will be held to explain the police report,” he added.

On Nov 8, Jeli MP Zahari Kechik became the fourth and latest Bersatu MP to pledge their support for Anwar’s leadership, citing the wellbeing of his constituents.

Previously, Gua Musang MP Datuk Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid and Labuan MP Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman had done the same, citing the same reason.

Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin recently announced that Iskandar and Suhaili had been suspended from the party for four and six years respectively by the party’s disciplinary board committee, and that they had also been relieved of all positions in the party.

No disciplinary action has been announced against Mohd Azizi and Zahari at the time of writing. – Nov 14, 2023
