UMNO supreme council member Datuk Puad Zarkashi dismissed Ketereh UMNO division liaison chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa’s views that the sacking of Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman from the party leadership team will trigger a crisis in the party.
“Tajuddin was not sacked. He was an appointed supreme council member and was removed so as to be replaced by others. Don’t tell me Annuar doesn’t understand this?
“Besides, when someone goes against the party’s stand, it is obvious that you will get the boot. That’s the whole story,” he said in a Facebook post.
Last week, Tajuddin, who is also Pasir Salak MP, was removed from the UMNO supreme council. Party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamid had refused to disclose details on the matter to the public.
Two days ago, Annuar said the decision to axe Tajuddin would spark a crisis in the party that may create a huge rift.
Taking to social media, he insinuated that several UMNO leaders have been branded as “enemies” of the leadership team and more may get sacked in time.
The communications and multimedia minister added that such a move was rare and even former long-time party president, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad seldom did that.

Touching on the matter, Puad accused Annuar of trying to instigate party members by saying Tajuddin’s removal would create a crisis in UMNO.
Adding that such a move was normal, the former deputy minister stated that such a thing will only turn into a crisis when unscrupulous people make an issue out of it.
“Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan and Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah were also removed from the leadership team in the past.
“In fact, even Annuar got removed as UMNO’s information chief but there was no crisis,” Puad mentioned.
He remarked: “And who said Mahathir didn’t sack people? Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was booted out of the party while serving as party deputy president.
“And if he cares so much about Tajuddin, why didn’t he say anything when former prime minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin removed him as the Prasarana Malaysia Bhd chairman last year?” – June 27, 2022.
