WITH the advent of the Menu Rahmah programme, a vendor in Jalan Kebun Kampung Batu 7 Shah Alam was inspired to extend this concept to the king of fruits.
Durian Atok stall owner Khairul Fahmy Yasin is selling a mixture of durian kampung and the D24 variety for only RM4.99 per pack.
Last week, Khairul introduced “Durian Rahmah”, and managed to sell 50 packets (approximately 400g) in just 10 minutes.
“Menu Rahmah should not be limited to daily meals and could be extended to other food,” FMT reported Khairul as saying.
“I was pleasantly surprised. Previously, I sold for RM8 to RM9 per container. I keep adding containers because the demand is high. There were even people from Skudai, Johor, who came to my stall for durians,” he added.
Khairul claimed that 600 packs of Durian Rahmah were sold yesterday (Feb 8) and he might increase the quantity if demand increases.
Moreover, the Durian Atok stall only operates from 2.30pm onward, with each customer only allowed to purchase two containers at a time.
Khairul also offers a variety of durians at his stall, as well as durian cendol for RM4 per bowl.
Furthermore, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub stated that the Menu Rahmah programme did not require any government expenditure and that his ministry was open to anyone who wanted to use the “Rahmah” brand to benefit the populace.
The Menu Rahmah initiative was launched by Salahuddin earlier on Jan 31, with about 15,000 food outlets taking part to help reduce the cost of living for the public, especially the poor. – Feb 9, 2023
