THERE is likelihood that DAP may not be able safeguard the 40 parliamentary seats it won in the 15th General Election (GE15) last November if the wave of awareness among the Malays continues in GE16 slated for 2027.
In fact, if the so-called green wave phenomenon persists further, the number of seats held by DAP would shrink further, thus possibly eliminating its dominance as the force behind Pakatan Harapan (PH), according to National PAS information chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin.
“So, DAP will probably make a new move. They can no longer rely on UMNO, PKR or Amanah anymore. The possibility of DAP reaching out to Perikatan Nasional (PN) cannot be ruled out,” HarakahDaily quoted him as saying.
“For the sake of power, perhaps DAP will tell the people that they will scrap their Setapak Declaration (which opposes the separation of citizens into Bumiputera and non-Bumiputera) and they may even make an open statement to change their party constitution.
“The so-called chauvinist and kiasu party may eventually agree to support the Federal Constitution and the Constitutional Monarch.”
Earlier, Khairil Nizam who is also the Jerantut MP claimed that DAP has fully leveraged its coalition partners namely PKR, Amanah and UMNO to confront Malay political opponents, especially from PAS and Bersatu.
H attributed this strategy as having enabled DAP to be in a dominating position by achieving a 97.9% victory or 46 out of 47 seats that it contested in Saturday’s (Aug 12) six state elections.
“Usually in an election, their (DAP) leaders will shut down by not commenting on anything. They only focus on attracting or gaining support from non-Malay voters,” Khairil Nizam told the PAS mouthpiece.
“The (retaliation) against PAS and Bersatu by its affiliates (UMNO, PKR and Amanah) means that DAP can focus solely on non-Malay voters. It’ll be a bonus for DAP if it were to gain support from Malay voters from the attack of its affiliates on PN.
“But their main goal is to win the Chinese majority seat. DAP’s approach of fronting a few Malay candidates is just a camouflage to show that they are multi-racial when this is never the case.”
On behalf of PAS, the professional engineer reminded both the Bumiputera community and even moderate non-Malays about the extreme attitude in the DAP’s struggle.
“DAP is fighting for equality which is not enshrined in the Federal Constitution. As for PAS and PN, we consistently defend the Federal Constitution and respect the constitutional monarch,” contended Khairil Nizam.
“The same is true of the Rukun Negara which strengthens the pluralistic society in our country. But DAP always does the opposite,” he noted while stressing the need for the people to continuously being wary of the party.
Nevertheless, DAP’s attempt to control the Malay seats through its coalition partners in GE15 and the recent state polls have been successfully denied with a victory in favour of the PN coalition. – Aug 15, 2023
