AS boycott of consumer goods believed to be linked to Jewish influence peaked following the Israeli incessant attack of Gaza in retaliation to an Oct 7 Hamas strike, the PAS women’s wing has drawn up a list of “Buy Muslim” alternatives which are mostly Made-in-Malaysia household items.
Although some of the brands are unheard of, it is indeed a praiseworthy effort to promote them in the quest to enhance acceptance and recognition of home-grown brands which could be more affordably priced at a time when cost of living has spiralled and imports have become more expensive due to the ringgit depreciation.
“Switch to Muslim products. Instead of Dasani mineral water which is produced by Coca-Cola, look for Gau Air, a product the people of Pahang,” the PAS women wing’s Economic and Entrepreneur Development Council chairman Norhafiza Fadzil was cited as saying in HarakahDaily.
“Fried chicken lovers can switch to Muiz Hot Chicken. Milo fans can opt for Savanah Coco while Colgate (toothpaste) users can switch to Halal Gel.”
There is no doubt, however, that Norhafiza’s “Buy Muslim” call comes with a strong political connotation:
“The enemy of God is trembling with the call of jihad. So how do we in Malaysia help our Muslim brethren in Palestine? Realising that our Muslim brothers and sisters in Palestine are being attacked by the Zionist Laknatullah (condemned by Allah), do carry on boycotting products that benefit Israel.
“The choice is in our hands as consumers. Be wise to choose daily necessities and remember to choose items that are pleasing to God so that we have a reason to answer before Him in the future that we are helping our Muslim brothers and sisters.”
