AMID surging demand for home-delivered meals in Malaysia, food delivery riders sometimes face criticism for slow or late deliveries.
However on TikTok, some are saying the riders do not make a real effort to be on time or to do their job but netizens are coming out in force to defend a rider who is pictured resting.
They emphasised that we need to be human and respect the rider’s need for breaks. Their comments and defence of the rider show that Malaysians care a lot for the wellbeing of their people.
In the video, TikToker stated that these food riders are “slacking off” and are not working as hard as others.
X users on the other hand, stated that there could be a possibility that the rider was waiting for an order that was to be delivered to a customer. Working hours for this sort of work are generally flexible.
The user said they were shocked that some people would go to the length of recording a video of the rider to post on TikTok only to judge them.
Some users are saying we have to thank the riders who helped people all along. We should pray for their wellbeing and for them to deliver food safely.
Netizen @skyheart92 probably made the most beautiful plea for the brave riders.
The user pointed out that they have never thought that this line of work is easy. There are a lot of complications when it comes to being a food rider, as the weather, timing, and customer satisfaction are all at stake.
They also claimed that these riders are sometimes risking their lives when it comes to delivering food to customers. We feel that user @skyheart92 massively deserves applause!
Others defended the rider, citing that it is his choice if he wants to take a short break from work. They states that the TikToker should “mind his own business” and move along as long as the rider isn’t disturbing anyone. – March 10, 2024
