Wee Ka Siong upset with AirAsia on a flight schedule change

MCA president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong expressed his dismay at the service of low-cost airline Air Asia, which allegedly changed its flight schedule from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan, Sabah five times on Saturday (July 20).

Wee said this caused him to buy a new ticket for the flight on Sunday and have to cancel a programme in Sandakan.

“I had to cancel my programme in Sandakan which was scheduled for 7pm on Saturday.

“If AirAsia wants to cancel flight AK6498, it should inform the passengers as early as possible and not give false information or hope to the passengers many times.”

He went on Facebook to vent his disappointment.

“I was really upset when the AirAsia staff at the counter confirmed that flight AK6498 has been cancelled and all information about the flight will only be known and communicated to all passengers at 7am, July 21, 2024,” he penned on Facebook today.

According to him, the original flight time was at 3.20pm before it was delayed to 5.55pm on the same day.

He explained that he was then informed that flight AK6498 would only depart at 1.45pm on Sunday, causing him to take a new flight at 7.10am to attend the programme scheduled for 10am.

He also claimed that due to the incident, many flight customers were also stranded at the airport.

“A group of passengers I met at the Promenade Hotel were angry with the airline for not arranging any accommodation for the stranded passengers for two days until next Monday (July 22).

“Air Asia should be more professional in managing this kind of crisis.”

On Friday (July 19), there was a global information technology (IT) outage that affected many airlines, businesses and organisations. – July 21, 2024
