AN attempt by an opposition-slant keyboard warrior to shame and accuse Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong of nepotism/cronyism by appointing “his gal (amoi)” to sit on a top position in the Human Resources Ministry has fallen flat.
Not only is the woman in question is not the Bukit Mertajam MP’s wife but more so because his claim of scandal in the ministry does not seem to hold water.
“Not only has Hannah Yeoh’s hubby landed a project after his wife became a minister but it’s now Steven Sim’s turn to uplift his amoi to reap reward in the “communication management” project,” accused Ismael Wong (@tiupangin) in a post on the X platform. “DAP = Dijamin Ada Projek (literally “Guaranteed Got Project).”
Bukan sahaja jantan Hannah Yeoh sakau projek lepas bini jadi Menteri, kini giliran Steven Sim pula angkut amoi beliau dapat habuan siap dapat projek “pengurusan komunikasi”.

A check by FocusM revealed that the poster was merely ‘re-posting’ an earlier exposé by Edisi Siasat which is reputed to be an activist entity whose content ranges from bordering poison-pen letters to unverified whistle-blowers’ account of what is deemed as corrupt practices in the civil service.
First to come out to defend Sim is his comrade and DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) chief Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen who deemed all the allegations by both Ismael Wong and Edisi Siasat as “untrue and malicious”.
“Don’t know (the) source of this but I guess one of the perils of the job is it is natural that we may ruff some feathers but we are an open book, will remain accountable and have nothing to hide,” added the Bandar Kuching MP.
In fact, a few commenters also ticked off Ismael Wong for his slander with one revealed that being “a home to a human trafficking cartel”, Sim’s assertiveness has resulted in the DAP lawmaker making many enemies.
Among the highly dubious or subjective claims levelled at Sim for the appointment of Radiance Leong as the communications director for the Bukit Mertajam MP is that she controls Sim’s press secretary’s (SUA) budget in addition to the press secretary having to report to her.
“She also has business interest in Amazonite Advertising … she has further taken over the role of the senior private secretary (SUSK), leaving the person to do paperwork,” noted the seemingly poison-pen letter or whistle-blower’s account.
“She also has the tendency to claim credit for work rendered by other officers while the corporate communications unit head (KUKK) was expelled for not adhering to her style of work.”
Other accusations included “the minister granted her with a personal driver and a (Toyota) Vios car bearing registration number WD183B”; allowed her to attend overseas events at the expense of other officers) and that her Senior Special Officer post “doesn’t exist on the official system”. – Aug 23, 2024
