PAS snubbed for ‘re-branding’ Social Welfare Department’s food aid for flood victims

A PRO-Madani government social media influencer has taken a jibe at Perikatan Nasional (PN) cybertroopers who had on numerous instances chided Pakatan Harapan (PH) backers not to weaponise the flood as a political tool.

This came about as JOKER🔺(@tjerealjoker) displayed a clip on his X account of presumably two PAS members – a man and a woman – re-packaging food stuff from the Social Welfare Department (JKM) meant stuff meant for distribution to flood victims into a plastic bag bearing the PAS logo.

Such action would certainly give the wrong impression that the food aid was made possible by means of fundraising activity within the Islamist party when the real truth is that the content was originally sourced from a Federal government agency.

The revelation of such modus operandi triggered furore that PAS has side-stepped the sanctity of Islam given its leaders “still have the heart to pose for photos with the re-packaged contributions as if the money had come from their own pockets”.

Deeming its leaders as “demons in disguise”, one netizen claimed that he now understands why “friends and relatives have been reluctant to donate for fundraising cause to assist flood victims”.

Another netizen stressed the need for PAS to be honest about identity of the true donor instead of claiming credit from the generosity of others who sincerely wanted to lessen hardship faced by the flood victims.

Few commenters suggested that it is therefore “little wonder calamity befalls Kelantan as its leaders and its folks continue to support and vote a political party which rides on the religion”.

In a related social media post, another seemingly pro-Madani government keyboard warrior also berated PAS’ mannerism of aid distribution “by wearing the party’s uniform complete with its logo and posing for the camera”.

On a similar note, Bersatu supreme council member and Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal was chastised for posing with “so many gunny sacks of rice which could have come from NADMA (National Disaster Management Agency)” instead of his own MP allocation.

Worse still, there were claims that he had been MIA (missing in action) from his constituency  prior to turning up with the rice supply.

Earlier, social media influencer Adam Yusuf (@adamyusuf88) has ticked off Wan Fayhsal for donating raw rice without considering the bo-existence of cooking faculty at evacuation centres.

In fact, he should have followed the example set by renowned social media influencer Khairul Aming who prepared cooked food in addition to drinking water supply for about 2,000 evacuees in Kelantan’s Pasir Mas district. – Nov 2, 2024
