Siti Kasim fumes at narrow-minded Malay NGO for chasing away good fortune from Chinese tourists

HUMAN rights activist and lawyer Siti Kasim has lambasted little known Malay NGO Anak Wartan Bani Tanah Jawi who had on Dec 4 lodged a police report against Malaysia hosting China’s first-ever lunar new year (CNY) celebration outside the Great Wall country.

The group of 20 who gathered at the Sungai Petani district police headquarters (IPD) in Kedah had questioned if there is an ulterior motive of hidden agenda to get Malaysia to host the CNY celebration while calling for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahin to call off the proposed event

“Whether this is a case of drinking too much ketum water or otherwise, I really feel embarrassed at their intellectual level, especially watching these people finding fault with tourists to Malaysia without realising that these foreign visitors are bringing money into the country,” lamented Siti Kasim in a YouTube video.

“Our PM and Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister are working hard to woo tourists into the country yet we’re saddled with people who don’t understand how the economy works.”

Most probably, the Orang Asli advocate is spot on in contending that when tourists stop coming to Malaysia. there will be ripple or domino effect in that hotels will be empty with many Malays who are engaged in the hotel industry at risk of losing their jobs.

“Don’t you think too highly of Malaysia as if tourists like to flock to the country because it’s so special … they can choose to go to Bali, Phuket or to other countries which don’t issue foolish statements to the extent of lodging a police report,” berated Siti Kasim.

“What can the police do? I truly wonder where actually is the brain of you guys if not on your knees. Isn’t it better if more tourists want to flock our country for they will eventually be channelling an income source to our people through the hotel, service industry and retailers?”

Very broadly, Siti Kasim deduced that such narrow mentality is typical among walaun (staunch PAS supporters) who only care for people in their inner circle.

“At the end of the day, the country will only be on the path of destruction as these people are both capable of breaking the rice bowl of the Malays themselves and the entire national economy.

“They are even clueless of income that can be generated from the tourism industry. It’s better for them to live in caves where they need not interact with tourists or be chased out of Malaysia for destroying the country’s economy.” – Dec 10, 2024
