CENTURION Corporation Ltd and Westlite Accommodation Sdn Bhd wish to clarify that at no time in time did Westlite Johor Tech Park Sdn Bhd operate without a valid business licence.
The worker dormitory at Johor Tech Park has been operating under a license from Kulai Town Council (MPKU) which was issued on Jan 1, 2024 and is valid and expires on Dec 31, 2024 (today).
Additionally, it has also secured a business license from the Iskandar Puteri Town Council (MBIP) which was issued on Dec 18, 2024 and is valid until Dec 31, 2025.
To provide a clearer understanding of the situation, the following summarises the detailed facts:
- Transition of Administration
In 2016, the address of our Westlite Johor Tech Park premises was re-zoned, transferring its jurisdiction from the MPKU to the MBIP.
Unfortunately, during the transition process, the company was not informed of the change in address and the new authority for licensing.
- Original Address (MPKU): PTD 87632 – PLO NO 46, Johor Technology Park, 81400 Senai, Johor.
- Updated Address (MBIP): PTD 87632 – No 38, Jalan Teknologi 5, Taman Teknologi, 81400 Senai, Johor.
- Issuance of Notice (Dec 9, 2024)
Up until now, Westlite had been applying for its business license with MPKU which had issued the business license dated Jan 1, 2024 and expiring on Dec 31, 2024 (today).
MBIP also did not notify Westlite Johor Tech Park Sdn Bhd of the address change and the need for the business license to be issued by the new authority in charge of the new address.
Because the license was issued to the previous address by MPKU, the enforcement team from MBIP could not locate an active business license for the site under the new address and therefore, issued a cessation of business notice.
- Visit to MBIP (Dec 11, 2024)
The Westlite team visited MBIP, clarified this matter with MBIP’s Assessment Department, and obtained verification of the correct address to avoid future confusion.
This verification facilitates Westlite’s future business license procedures with the relevant zonal authorities.
- Licence Obtained (Dec 18, 2024)
Westlite successfully received the license from MBIP on this date.
- Closure of the Previous Business License under MPKU (23/12/2024)
The previous business license with account number L9801719 which is under MPKU has been closed at 11am on Dec 23, 2024.
