ONE certainly cannot imagine former Pahang menteri besar Tan Sri Adnan Yaakob hurling abusive language at Siti Kasim over the slightest of provocation at the lobby of the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex yesterday (April 28).
This came about as the human rights activist and lawyer was about to brief a group of over 40 Orang Asli from Kota Tinggi, Johor on the progress of their property sales dispute when Adnan seized the moment to mingle and take photo shots with the Orang Asli.
This prompted Siti Kasim to tell her ‘clients’ not to listen to politicians as they only know how to lie. This eventually led to a commotion and a heated exchange ensued between the duo which was captured on a video which went viral.

As the once UMNO warlord who came to the court with other political party supporters to attend the hearing involving former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak felt provoked, he started making derogatory remarks at Siti Kasim by calling her “lawyer bodoh” (stupid lawyer), “lawyer penipu” (crooked lawyer) and “thinking she is janda muda” (young divorcee)”.
“He saw the Orang Asli and tried to show how great he is with them,” Siti Kasim recounted the incident to the New Straits Times (NST).
“But you can ask the Orang Asli from Pahang how he had treated them. So I said to the Orang Asli don’t listen to politicians as they only know how to lie.”
As one stage the squabble between the duo reached boiling point and almost ‘got physical’.
“You can see from the videos he pointed his fingers so close to my face so I swatted his hand away and asked who he was to treat me like that,” Siti Kasim tod NST. “It was crude but I expected that from him,”
Despite many having encouraged her to sue Adnan for the defamatory remarks made against her, she preferred to treat the matter as a close chapter apart from describing the 75-year-old longest serving Pahang MB (19 years) as “uncouth”.
Although she was perplexed over what cases had she cheated her clients of, Siti Kasim contended that she does not want the incident to derail her from carrying out her legal responsibilities.
“Never mind, why should I bother. I’ve so many Orang Asli cases pending and I’ve better and more important things to do,” she quipped. – April 29, 2025
