Bomb maker remand extended for seven days

A 62-YEAR-OLD man suspected of involvement in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion at Desa Palma, Nilai, on Dec 22 has had his remand extended for seven days until Jan 10.

The extension was granted by a magistrate at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital on Jan 4, Negri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said.

It allows for further investigation under Sections 307 and 435 of the Penal Code and Section 4 of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act.

The suspect, identified as Yeoh Hock Sun, also known as ‘Ayang’,  was arrested on Dec 27 in Batang Benar, Nilai, following a public tip-off.

He sustained burn injuries to his face, body, hands, and legs and was hospitalised in a weakened condition.

Police seized a motorcycle believed to belong to him, along with several suspected IEDs, devices, and pieces of equipment from his rented house, indicating he possesses technical expertise in fabricating explosives.

Authorities urged the public not to speculate and to provide any relevant information to the police. — Jan 3, 2026
