“Don’t be cheapskate!”: Lalamove customer mocked for not choosing door-to-door service for peace of mind

REGULAR users of courier services would have experienced this – packages left outside premises or kerbside sans notifications.

This was the experience of an angry Facebook user – Devi Maheswaran – who grumbled about a Malay Lalamove driver who sped off by after leaving her parcel by the kerbside though there was a cursory call to notify her of the parcel’s arrival.

She claimed that previous delivery drivers would always call to notify and bring the parcel into the vicinity of her apartment building and leave it under a table near the lifts.

Unhappy at the charges and the service, she asked what would happen if the parcel, claimed to be worth RM750 that was left kerbside had been stolen? Would the driver reimburse her?

The irate poster also highlighted that the driver seems to be operating using another person’s account as it was registered to a female name (Nor Fikrah Mhd Isomudin) but the driver was male.

She also claimed that this was the first time she had an unpleasant experience as she is a regular user of Lalamove services. Leaving parcels on the street is just wrong.

The post has generated 1.1K likes, 1.6K comments and 116 shares at time of publication, denoting that netizens had plenty to say about the subject.

But not everyone seems to be on the side of the grumbling customer as some thought that she should have forked out more for the door-to-door delivery service just to be safe rather than sorry.

Few others further challenged the poster to show proof that she did indeed request for door-to-door services thereby justifying her complaint.

As highlighted by one observer, the lady paid for “delivery service”, not “slave services to carry your belongings”.

The cheapskate jibe was also repeated in another comment that shifted the blame entirely onto the customer.

Why didn’t she pay for extra door-to-door services? Why didn’t she wait for the delivery driver? Why didn’t she ask that it be passed to the security personnel?

Terming such a person as having a “low class mindset”, this commenter simply pointed out that additional services come at a price.

The fact that the poster claimed the package wasn’t even heavy was pounced upon by some who asked what’s the big deal carrying the package yourself instead of “playing victim”?

Quite a few unimpressed commenters also told the poster off for making this into a race issue. What has the driver’s ethnicity got to do with anything?

Stating that the poster could have “added another RM5 for door-to-door service”, one commenter went on ask her “to try being a Lalmove driver for day” and she will realise that “every second counts”.

Still, the poster insisted that the driver should NOT have just left the said parcel on the street when he could have placed “it at the guard house”.

Nevertheless, the unhappy customer did get some support from others who felt that it was unprofessional for the driver to just leave the parcel unattended kerbside.

This is very much a ‘he said, she said’ scenario. Who knows what really went down between the Lalamove driver and the customer?

But suffice to say, if a person really needs peace of mind, especially with valuable packages, do insist on door-to-door delivery and pay the extra fee.

As for the race-baiting, the less said the better. There are bad apples from all walks of life. What is clear is that racist invective is seeping into every facet of Malaysian daily life whether we like it or not. – Feb 11, 2026
