IS the world becoming a more cruel place than what it already is? This is a frightening thought to ponder, considering all the hate and pain the average joe has to struggle with on a daily basis.
But everyday, it would seem that we are witnessing more and more acts that makes us believe that the worst has yet to come.
Perhaps this statement best reflects the ordeal or an old man who was roughed up for doing something as small as touching the head of a little girl.
Fortunately, CCTV footage captured the entire scene so viewers get to decide for themselves who is in the wrong here.
Apparently the scene was in Singapore, or more specifically at Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle.
In the video, the elderly man in a blue shirt could be seen absently brushing the little girl’s head which alerted a guardian sitting nearby, likely her mother.
Things turned ugly very quickly when she called the father who not only scolded, but pushed the old man to the ground.
The victim has since come forth to make a statement, saying that he has an injury on his leg which required him to hold the tables nearby as he walked.
“Then I saw the little girl and she was very adorable, so I patted her head. Old people like to pat young children’s heads,” he said.
According to the victim, he has been making wanton noodles at the place for nearly four decades and a lot of people know him.
He added that he has a lot of surgery all over his body and he doesn’t have the strength to walk.
This story has since gone viral and our fellow netizens have much to say about it too.
According to ejadshukri on threads, the behaviour of the parents will rub onto the little girl who was undoubtedly observing everything.

Another thread user atqfrsfydaqf said she didn’t like it when people touched her child too, but said the wife’s reaction was what caused the situation to escalate.

On X, there was an outpouring of opinion regarding the situation too.

“Parents need to be extra cautious these days. You never know what’s on people’s minds. There are so many predators out there. I’m not trying to accuse the uncle, but I understand how parents feel when a stranger suddenly touches their child,” said @rottensage, adding that there have been so many cases involving predators and children, so parents need to be extra vigilant.
“The world isn’t like it used to be anymore, because so many weird things have come out, and now everyone’s on guard against stuff like this,” said @21questy.
Also, @yollahni thinks the uncle might have a disease that could be transmitted to the child.
Then there was netizen @dailytechtarik stating that both sides were at fault here.

Several others believe it was a behaviour reserved to Singaporeans.

The police have since identified a 40-year-old man in connection with the incident. The authorities confirmed on Sunday that a report had been made and investigations are ongoing.
Note that Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle operates two stalls, one at Roxy Square mall along East Coast Road and the other in a coffee shop near Telok Kurau Road.
Closed-circuit television footage posted by the business showed the incident taking place at the Roxy Square outlet.
The victim who claimed he was now in pain said he may seek further treatment in traditional Chinese medicine depending on how his condition develops.—Aug 17, 2026
