TNG eWallet can now be used as an alternative wage payment channel across Malaysia after receiving recognition from the Sarawak Labour Department (JTK Sarawak), completing nationwide labour authority recognition across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
The recognition allows employers nationwide to disburse wages through TNG e-Wallet as an alternative digital payment channel, particularly benefiting workers who are unbanked or face barriers to traditional banking services.
TNG Digital chief executive officer Alan Ni said more than 500,000 users nationwide already receive their wages through TNG e-Wallet, with over RM5.7 bil in wages disbursed through the platform in 2026.
“JTK Sarawak’s recognition marks an important milestone in expanding this access nationwide. It gives confidence to employers across Malaysia that this is a safe, government-recognised digital wage disbursement, while giving workers an established and practical way to receive and manage their earnings,” he said in a statement.
The latest recognition completes a phased rollout that began in 2024, when the Peninsular Malaysia Labour Department (JTKSM) recognised TNG e-Wallet as an alternative wage payment method for unbanked workers, including blue-collar migrant workers through DuitNow accounts.
The Sabah Labour Department (JTK Sabah) granted similar recognition in December 2025, with Sarawak becoming the final jurisdiction to complete nationwide coverage.
Each verified TNG e-Wallet user receives a DuitNow account number, allowing employers to transfer salaries directly from any Malaysian bank into employees’ TNG e-Wallet accounts.
TNG Digital said the arrangement provides employers with a secure alternative to traditional wage payments while giving workers immediate access to their earnings.
Beyond receiving salaries, users can use the e-wallet for everyday payments, money transfers, cash withdrawals and remittances within the same digital ecosystem. ‒ Aug 21, 2026
