AN unpleasant chapter from disgraced former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s past has surfaced on social media as Madani backers go on overdrive to erase the so-called Bossku’s legacy following UMNO’s over-zealousness to pay his RM50 mil fine via the Tabung Solidariti Najib Razak.
This follows the revelation of British national Paul Satdlen who was once Bossku’s primary media adviser and PR (public relations) chief.
Given that Malaysian Gen Z and Gen Alpha might not have had time to know who Paul Stadlen is, pro-Madani Threader Muhammad Najib (@luciusmaximus) has taken the effort to briefly introduce Satdlen to the new generation.
“So let uncle introduce you all to Paul Stadlen, the kaki botol (drunkard) and kaki perempuan (womaniser) who became the communications director for Najib Razak,” he penned cynically in a post with pictorial evidence.
“Yes, he managed Najib Razak’s and the Malaysian government’s branding back then.”
The post somehow did achieve its desire effect with a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)-certified personal trainer stating that while he was not against what people do in their private lives “especially when they’re non-Muslims but how the hell does a colourless seasoningless white coloniser end up being in a government department??? 💀💀”
The undeniable irony is that Satdlen – when sober – “was very effective with the effect of his consultancy being felt till now”, observed one commenter.
“Despite whatever his flaws, you gotta admire that – making a fool of the Malays – that’s a powerful one for his resume and LinkedIn hashtag,” he acknowledged.
A Mossad agent or otherwise, one netizen recalled Stadlen as “the one behind the ‘1Malaysia’ branding idea” which was somehow inspired by the “One Israel” political alliance.
“You got that right. 👍Instead Paul is also Made-in-Israhell [sic] and has dual citizenships thanks to Najib the traitor and plunderer,” mocked one woman commenter.
As one Madani backer thanked the poster for his sharing, another infuriated commenter recounted “being forced to stop my master’s study in 2015 because there was no funding”.
“Six months without a salary during that time. Every day selling bread near the university canteen. Meanwhile, the lab work was already half done. Damn pissed off with Najib,” he fumed.
Apparently, the post by @luciusmaximus was in response to an earlier post by fellow Threader Aswalia (@aswaliaayub) who contended that “one of the reasons Najib was so great with his communication with the B40 category (he introduced the economic tier) was because of his communications & PR team”.
He (Najib) hired APCO Worldwide under Paul Stadlen to manage the communications & PR under his term, including (the) 1Malaysia branding.
His (Najib) administration cut many things, made the first move in dismantling the Health Ministry (MOH), cut budget from public universities, stop MyBrain, cuts JPA (Public Services Department) scholarships but started BR1M that made him popular until today even when proven wrong.
Interestingly, @aswaliaayub herself was reacting to a grouse by a netizen who recalled the hardship of being “a PhD student during Najib’s time”.
“At that time, the university budget was cut. So the university had to be frugal. Among the things that were cut was the PhD scholarship. So I had to study with my own money. Back then, there was no issue with 1MDB,” he added – Sept 22, 2026
Editor’s Note: Following Najib’s defeat in the 2018 general election, Stadlen left Malaysia and was charged in absentia in 2019 with money laundering linked to RM15 mil from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) funds.
In 2021, Malaysian authorities dropped the money laundering charges against Stadlen after he agreed to a voluntary settlement to surrender over RM7.19 mil back to a 1MDB trust account.
