BELOW are excerpts of viewpoints from two selected research houses on what investors can expect in the day ahead:
Berjaya Research
The FBM KLCI snapped its three-day winning streak amid profit-taking in selected index heavyweights.
Trading volume rose to 2.8 billion shares while market breadth remained positive, suggesting improving underlying sentiment as investors rotated into lower liners.
Moving forward, the local bourse is expected to trade in a range-bound pattern as investors digest the outcome of the US mid-term elections where the Democrats are in control of both chambers of Congress.
Attention will also turn to Bank Negara Malaysia’s (BNM) upcoming monetary policy decision where we expect the central bank to maintain the Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) unchanged given the current economic conditions.
Selective buying interest may offer some support to the broader market although near-term sentiment is likely to remain cautious amid external uncertainties and profit-taking activities.
Meanwhile, the weakness on oil prices is expected to be negative for the oil & gas (O&G)-related stocks today.
While foreign buying net buying extended to seven consecutive sessions, the local bourse succumbs to quick profit taking and is poised for a consolidation.
The immediate resistances remain located at 1,630-1,650 points. Meanwhile the immediate supports are pegged at 1,600 points, followed by 1,592 points.
Malacca Securities Research
The FBM KLCI may draw support from Wall Street’s strong rebound with attention turning to BNM’s OPR decision at 3pm. Eight out of nine economists expect the rate to remain unchanged at 2.75%.
On the corporate front, Kee Ming Group Bhd secured a RM44.17 mil electrical engineering subcontract for a Puncak Alam hyperscale data centre scheduled for completion by July 2027.
Elsewhere, Sunway Construction Group Bhd secured RM920.8 mil in additional MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) fit-out works for a Johor data centre, thus lifting its FY2026 new orders to RM8.06 bil and outstanding order book to RM11.7 bil.
Meanwhile, Binastra Corp Bhd secured a RM303.8 mil automated warehouse contract in Klang which expands its exposure to specialised industrial infrastructure.
Profit-taking snapped the FBM KLCI’s winning streak. However, the broader rebound narrative stays constructive as the MACD histogram remains above zero and the RSI holds steady above 40.
Key resistance lies within 1,632-1,647 while near-term support is expected around 1,587-1,602. – Nov 5, 2026
