THE Yang di-Pertuan Agong al-Sultan Abdullah Almarhum Sultan Ahmad Shah urged the Government to hold consultation with all quarters to find solutions in getting Malaysia out of the COVID-19 crisis.

“Therefore, I laud the Government’s move to reach out to all parties to resolve issues plaguing my subjects. Bipartisanship is the way forward and it will be bring maturity to our political system.

“The people are yearning for this and I stress on the adage: Winners should not win all and losers should not lose all,” His Majesty said in a speech at the Dewan Rakyat today.

The monarch added that he was upset that the public health crisis was still not resolved, with many Malaysians losing their livelihoods in the process.

“I have received hundreds of letters from my subjects, detailing their plight to me. So, I advise all MPs to never put the people’s lives at stake just for the sake of vested interests.

“Focus your collective effort on containing COVID-19 and bring back hope to all Malaysians,” His Majesty mentioned.

On that note, Sultan Abdullah expressed confidence that the new administration would be able to deliver on its promises within 100 days and urged everyone to embrace the ‘Malaysian Family’ concept espoused by the Government.

Elaborating on the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, the monarch said he was contended that Malaysia is now having the fastest inoculation process in the world.

However, Sultan Abdullah urged everyone not to rest on their laurels as new COVID-19 variants are emerging across the world.

“Therefore, I urge the Government to continue its whole-of-society effort in containing the virus, by strengthening all communication channels.

“And we must adapt to COVID-19, which will become endemic and be part of our daily lives. So, I urge my subjects to practice good hygiene, adhere to standard operating procedure (SOP) and get yourselves vaccinated,” His Majesty remarked. – Sept 13, 2021
