Air Selangor creates jobs under apprenticeship scheme, certifies 12 plumbers

IN an efforts to reduce unemployment in the country, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) had certified its first group of participants who have successfully attended its Plumber Apprenticeship Programme.

The programme was its second initiative under its Sesama Mara corporate social responsibility programme, to help the community to move forward during the challenging times of COVID-19.

“The selected participants consisted of individuals who lost their jobs due to the pandemic triggered economic downturn,” it said, in a statement.

The first group of 12 participants from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya have successfully undergone a five-day training course, which included 25% theoretical learning and 75% practical learning since March 8.

“They have received a Certificate of Achievement from Akademi Binaan Malaysia (ABM) and a Green Card from the Construction Industry Development Board of Malaysia (CIDB) in recognition of their skills.

“In addition, participants also received a toolbox which can be used when they carry out their tasks later,” it added.

The Plumber Apprenticeship Programme was launched by Air Selangor, in a collaboration with ABM in August last year. The programme was in line with Air Selangor’s ongoing efforts to provide new career opportunities and generate income in the water utility service and repair field.

Air Selangor still opens the registration for the Plumber Apprenticeship Programme to interested individuals, especially those who had lost their job due to the pandemic.

The registration form for this programme can be downloaded from Air Selangor’s website. Physical copies of the registration form can also be obtained at 10 Air Selangor customer service counters. – March 13, 2021.
