PAS wants action against KKB by-election campaign truck that displays Agong’s, PMX’s portraits

CAMPAIGNERS in the four-corner Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) by-election fight is getting more creative to outdo one another in their quest to attract the state constituency’s 40,226 folks who are eligible to vote.

This has led to PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari crying foul about a four-wheel green truck which makes its round displaying the portraits of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim King of Malaysia and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (PMX) but strangely does not bear any political party logo.

“It’s very inappropriate to drag the royal institution into the KKB election campaign,” penned the Pasir Mas MP in a Facebook post.

“I’m sure the National Palace and the PM’s Office are not aware of this activity. Don’t be so desperate to campaign until the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s (YDPA) name is dragged into the picture.”

Pakatan Harapan (PH)-DAP Pang Sock Tao will face Perikatan Nasional (PN)-Bersatu’s Khairul Azhari Saut, Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s (PRM) Hafizah Zainuddin and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin in the KKB by-election slated for the coming Saturday (May 11).

In the latest demography provided by the Home Minster’s political secretary’s office, the Malays made up 53.4% of the total eligible voters, followed by the Chinese (30.5%), Indians (15.82%) and other races (0.29%)

A check on the comments section of Ahmad Fadhli’s post showed that many pro-opposition netizens regarded the action as a “3R breach” and wanted the police to take action.

Then there are those who reckoned that it would be of no avail for the opposition to bring the matter to the attention of the authorities as action is unlikely to be taken against the offender even if he breaks the law. – May 5, 2024
