Annuar Musa’s SOP breach: Event organiser claims responsibility

THE organiser of the event where Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa was seen breaching standard operating procedure (SOP) by dining with several individuals has apologised to the former for the brouhaha caused.

News portal Malaysiakini reported that the organiser, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) called Kelab Pencinta Alam Kolam Takungan Banjir Sungai Midah took responsibility over the incident, which happened during Annuar’s visit to a community centre project in Cheras.

“I, on behalf of the community here, apologise to Annuar and all Malaysians. We admit this was our shortcoming.

“When Tan Sri came, we invited him to drink at a hut in our communal farm but it was only for a brief moment.

“Tan Sri already felt (the photograph) would be shared widely; that was why he moved on quickly,” the group’s chairman, Zainuddin Amran, was reported saying.

Under the current SOP, only two people are allowed to share a table for meals.

Yesterday, Umno supreme council member Datuk Puad Zarkashi slammed Annuar for allegedly breaching SOP for the second time, adding the latter had embraced the “culture of giving excuses” to justify his wrongdoings.

On Jan 28, a picture of Annuar was shown talking a walk with three other persons, which was also a breach of SOP as the Government only allowed two people, from the same family, to go for a walk or jogging.

At the time, the minister defended himself saying that the other individuals, former Kuala Lumpur City Hall director-general Datuk Dr Noordin Abdul Razak and former Kelantan Football Association treasurer Datuk Nik Aminaldin Jaafar, joined him by “coincidence”.

On related matter, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said the authorities will be investigating Annuar for the alleged SOP breach.

“A report has been filed and we have opened an investigation paper,” he was reported telling news portal, Free Malaysia Today. – Feb 15, 2021.
