PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin a.k.a. CheGuBard has hit put at Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as having committed “a crime of corruption” by appointing defected Bersatu MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal as chairman of the committee to tackle the issue of rising food prices and cost of living.
This is because Anwar who is also the Finance Minister is well aware that the Bukit Gantang MP is a person who is not only incapable of carrying out the tasks accorded to him but has the potential to abuse his position.
“After all, Anwar himself has exposed Syed Abu Hussin’s corrupt practices previously,” the Pembela Tanah Air (PETA) secretariat member read out a media statement issued in front of the Dang Wangi district police headquarters yesterday (April 3) after having lodged a police report alongside submission of relevant evidence to facilitate investigation.
“In 2010, Anwar and I had examined several sets of thick government documents that showed Syed Hussin had embezzled projects worth over RM2 bil from the Malaysian government.”
According to Badrul Hisham who was sacked by PKR in August 2016, Anwar’s disclosure “which can be accessed until today” was published by several media such as TV Selangor and Malaysiakini on Dec 10, 2010.
“Without an open tender, 16 companies were arranged by Syed Abu Hussin. Among them is Gahmata Sajian Sdn Bhd which is involved in the privatisation of catering services for the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan,” Badrul Hisham pointed out. “According to Anwar’s disclosure at the time, the company alone wiped out RM800 mil.”
Additionally, Komatra Sajian Sdn Bhd secured a project of up to RM600 mil for the provision of catering services to the Defence Ministry (MINDEF) in the northern and eastern zones of the peninsula while GPB Corporation Sdn Bhd won contracts worth RM300 mil.
“As Syed Abu Hussin had already sapu (literally swept) M2 bil worth of government projects in 2010 alone, imagine after having jumped ship (pledging support to Anwar and the unity government) how many billions had he and his family sapu altogether?” asked Badrul Hisham who is currently the national Bersatu information committee member.
“Henceforth, Anwar’s action of putting him (Syed Abu Hussin) in-charge of food prices and cost of living is like letting a fox taking care of a chicken coop!”
In essence, Badrul Hisham claimed that Anwar seems not keen to deal with spiralling cost of living faced by the people but instead creates various committees “just to ensure that the mixed regime and the PM post continue to live on”.
“When the opportunity opened, Syed Abu Hussin has used his position to promote the Darul Ridzuan rice brand produced by his son Syed Afif’s company Kopeda Malaysia Sdn Bhd,” revealed Badrul Hisham.
“The rice is packed by Sofia Edar Sdn Bhd which is owned by Sofia Food Industries which belongs to his daughter Sharifah Alyaa.” – April 4, 2024
