Beauty secrets

Amorepacific country manager Margaret Chin clues us in on the brand and shares some beauty tips.

Working at a global Korean beauty (KBeauty), skincare and cosmetics company for five years, Margaret Chin, country manager of Amorepacific Malaysia is not going to stop bringing in exciting brands into the Malaysian market.

Amorepacific, which owns 33 brands both luxury and mass, including Laneige, Sulwhasoo, Happy Bath and Ryo. “We are still looking for more brands to bring into the market, but these will only be revealed at the time we launch them to the public.”

“Some of the products that you can look forward to are Laneige White Dew Tone Up Fluid line, Sulwhasoo Bloomstay Vitalizing line that is made from plum blossoms (anti-ageing), Mamonde Red Energy Serum (helps skin cells to recover) in May, and Innisfree Pomegranate range (anti-ageing). The launch of Hera will be coming soon but we don’t have any confirmation date yet,” said the mother of two.

Besides taking care of your skin by using makeup and skincare, Chin says that it is also essential to care for yourself from head to toe, and cites as examples of fulfilling beauty inside and out, Laneige’s collagen drink and Sulwhasoo Invigorating Red Ginseng Ampoules – top-rated products in Hong Kong and Korea.

But, if you have just hit puberty – cleanser, toner and moisturiser are the essential skincare steps scattered for younger skin.

“Cleansing is very vital. Especially since we are in a humid and polluted environment. Make sure to cleanse your face very well, twice a day. I recommend you use a foam cleanser in the morning and at night, do double cleansing even though you didn’t put on any foundation because there are tiny dust particles on your face that you can’t see. For toner and moisturiser, choose products according to your own skin condition,” said Chin who loves to travel.

“My daughter started a full-step skincare routine at 17 as I was in the beauty industry and encouraged her. Today, she is 25, and she has good skin. So, the trick is to start young,” she explained.

Although makeup trend lead the way for K-Beauty, this year Chin wants to tell readers that it is crucial to prepare the canvas well with skincare before getting to makeup. When you put on foundation and makeup products, your skin will glow and that’s a reflection of your inner beauty.

Chin began her career with Amorepacific Malaysia in 2014, and has brought in seven brands –
Laneige, Sulwhasoo, Innisfree, Mamonde, Etude House and last year, Ryo and Amos Professional. Amorepacific has been in Malaysia for 12 years and shows no signs of slowing down. Chin also revealed that something exciting would be coming real soon!
