Simpang Jeram was PN’s best bet to grab a seat in the Johor by-election and that is because the seat is near PN chief Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s home base in Pagoh. The seat also has a higher Malay voter demographic at almost 52%. The low turnout does not appear to have hampered PH’s performance in Pulai after all. In the latest updates from Malaysia, the Election Commission (EC) has reported a lower voter turnout at the Pulai parliamentary by-election compared to the Simpang Jeram state seat, citing heavy rain as a contributing factor. Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu and Johor party chief Aminolhuda Hassan joined supporters at Dataran Taman Dahlia in Perling, where the party was streaming the latest unofficial by-election results. – Sept 9, 2023
