COVID-19: Changkat Jong cluster in Perak records the highest number of infections

THE Health Ministry has reported 2,253 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours and 11 deaths in the past 24 hours.

“There were 3,085 recoveries today, bringing the total number of those recovered to 266,846,” Health Ministry’s director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement.

He also noted that 2,246 cases were local transmissions and out of the locally transmitted infections, 58.9% or 1,324 are Malaysians.

Currently, there are 27,994 active COVID-19 cases nationwide, of which 201 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care unit (ICU) with 93 requiring ventilator support.

“Unfortunately, 11 people have lost their lives to the virus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,111,” he pointed out.

Selangor continues to record the highest number of infections today at 633, followed by Perak (545) and Johor (276).

On a related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has detected 10 new clusters in the country with eight of them are workplace related, while two involves community transmission.

There are 493 active cluster in the country and 91 of them reported additional cases.

“The clusters with the highest number of infections reported today are the Jalan Changkat Jong cluster with 474 cases, followed by Simpang Tiga Muar cluster (55 cases) and Tembok Tapah cluster (54 cases) clusters,” he added.
