COVID-19: Daily cases soar past 9k mark, 4,400 in Selangor alone

THE Health Ministry (MOH) has reported a new daily record of 9,180 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 817,838.

In tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported that 5,713 patients have recovered from the infection and total discharged now stands at 731,193.

He noted that out of the total new cases recorded, 9,173 cases were local transmissions while the rest are imported cases.

Currently, there are 80,665 active cases, in which 959 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 465 of them in need of ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 77 people have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 5,980.

Selangor continues to record the highest number of cases (4,400), followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,271) and Negeri Sembilan (899). – July 9, 2021
