COVID-19: Fatalities spike to 50, over 6,000 new infections

WITH the Government insisting on no full lockdown, Malaysia recorded 6,320 cases today, bringing the cumulative total to 505,115.

In a joint press conference with Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 4,694 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 449,234.

“50 people have died today, bringing the death tally to 2,199,” he added.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases again (1,647), followed by Sarawak (749), Kuala Lumpur (654) and Kelantan (613).

“Of the current active cases, 652 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 370 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked. – May 22, 2021
