COVID-19: Negeri Sembilan records highest number of new infections

THE Health Ministry has reported 3,545 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours and 12 deaths in the past 24 hours.

“There were 3,331 recoveries today, bringing the total number of those recovered to 260,009,” Health Ministry’s director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement.

He also noted that 3,544 cases were local transmissions and out of the locally transmitted infections, 43.6% or 1,544 are Malaysians.

Currently, there are 30,677 active Covid-19 cases nationwide, of which 189 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care unit (ICU) with 88 requiring ventilator support.

“Unfortunately, 12 people have lost their lives to the virus, bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,088,” he pointed out.

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan recorded the highest number of infections today at 1,392, followed by Selangor (581) and Kuala Lumpur (381).

On a related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has detected eight new clusters in the country with seven of them are workplace related, while one involves community transmission. – Feb 24, 2021
