COVID-19: New cases on upward trend again; infections surge in N.Sembilan

THE number of new COVID-19 infections in the country has been on an upward trend in the past few days.

The Health Ministry (MOH) has reported 6,440 COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 685,204.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported that 6,861 patients have recovered from the infection and total discharged now stands at 615,326.

Currently, there are 65,602 active cases, in which 894 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 451 of them in need of ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 74 people have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 4,276.

Selangor continues to record the highest number of cases (2,095), followed by Negeri Sembilan (870) and Kuala Lumpur (816). – June 15, 2021
