COVID-19: New infections breach 8,000 mark, 135 people perished

DESPITE a ‘full’ lockdown, Malaysia’s daily infection rates breached the 8,000 mark today with 8,868 infections recorded. The cumulative number of infections now stands at 808,658.

In a statement, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 5,802 patients have recovered, with the total discharged now stands at 725,480.

135 people have succumbed today, bringing the death tally to 5,903.

Selangor recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 4,152 infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,133), and Negri Sembilan (897).

“Of the current active cases, 952 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 445 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked. – June 27, 2021
