COVID-19: New infections rise to 6,148, with 98 fatalities

MALAYSIA has recorded 6,148 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday (Oct 27), bringing the cumulative cases to 2,448,372.

In a statement, Dr Noor Hisham said that only 1.6% (101) of the new COVID-19 cases reported comprised patients in Categories 3, 4 and 5.

Category 3 refers to patients with pneumonia, Category 4 needs oxygen assistance and Category 5 requires respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the remaining 98.4% (6,047) cases were from Categories 1 and 2, which were asymptomatic or mild.

Meanwhile, according to the CovidNow website, 7,595 patients have recovered, bringing the total to 2,347,985.

There were 98 deaths, thus bringing the death tally to 28,674.

Of the current cases, 562 cases required treatment in intensive care units and 292 cases needed respiratory assistance. – Oct 28, 2021
