COVID-19: Noor Hisham warns situation is getting critical, abide by SOP

INFECTION cases in Malaysia remain precarious as it recorded 2,881 new cases today, bringing the cumulative total to 411,594.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 2,462 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 380,442.

“Fifteen people have died today, bringing the death tally to 1,521,” he added.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases again (759), followed by Sarawak (445), Kelantan (442) and Kuala Lumpur (315).

“Of the current active cases, 337 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 176 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked.

On related matter, Noor Hisham said that COVID-19 infections in the country have reached alarming rates and urged the public to comply with standard operating procedures (SOP) strictly.

He also urged the Malaysians to continue practicing 3Cs; which are avoiding crowded places, confined spaces and close conversation.

“Please practise the 3Ws as well— frequent washing of hands, wearing of face masks in public places and heed the warning on avoiding handshakes. Seek immediate treatment if you suffer from any symptoms,” he reminded. – May 1, 2021.
