COVID-19: Number of cases spike again, almost 10k in Klang Valley alone

THE number of daily cases are on the rise again following a three-day downtrend, with the country recording 19,991 new cases today, thus bringing the cumulative total to 1,299,767.

In a tweet, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 16,258 patients have been cured, with the total discharge now standing at 1,057,843.

There were 201 deaths today, bringing the death tally to 11,162.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases at 7,338, followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,374), Kedah (1,830) and Sabah (1,383).

“Of the current active cases, 1,096 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 570 of them in need of ventilator support,” Noor Hisham remarked. – Aug 10, 2021.
