COVID-19: Recoveries outpace new cases; over 800 new clusters reported since Jan

THE Health Ministry (MOH) has reported 1,360 COVID-19 cases and two deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a statement today, Health Ministry’s director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that there were 1,491 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 322,416.

He also noted that out of 1,360 new infections, 1,359 cases were locally transmitted, in which 1,086 of them were locals and 273 were foreigners.

Currently, there are 14,504 active COVID-19 cases nationwide, of which 157 COVID-19 patients are in intensive care unit (ICU) with 72 requiring ventilator support.

Selangor continues to record the highest number of cases with 356 infections, followed by Sarawak (308) and Johor (129).

On a related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has detected eight new clusters in the country, of which seven are workplace clusters.

In addition, MOH has shared that between Jan 1 and March 25, there were 811 new clusters reported. – March 25, 2021
