COVID-19: Recoveries spike above 3k, death toll remains at two-digit

THE Health Ministry announced 3,731 new COVID-19 infections and 15 deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a statement, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that there were 3,369 recoveries, bringing the total number of those recovered to 190,339.

“We have a total number of 242,452 infection cases as of now. Unfortunately, 15 people have lost their lives to the coronavirus, bringing the total death toll to 872,” he added.

All those who died were locals.

Selangor still recorded the highest number of infections with 1,606, followed by Johor (499) and Kuala Lumpur (372).

On related matter, Noor Hisham announced that his ministry has detected seven new clusters in the country.

Out of the number, three are workplace related, two community-based, one high-risk group and the other, a religious institution.

“With that, we have 441 active clusters. Seven clusters have ended today; which are Pintu Geng, Ehsan Ibol, Persiaran Heights, Langkasuka, Wawasan, Jalan BBN and Texmile,” he added. – Feb 7, 2021.
