Covid-19 recoveries surpassing new cases recorded

THERE were 222 cases that have recovered and have been allowed to be discharged in the last 24 hours, surpassing the 118 new positive cases detected as of noon today.

This brings the total Covid-19 cases in Malaysia to 4,346 as at April 10, according to Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

There were three more deaths from Covid-19, bringing the country’s death toll to 70.

There are 69 Covid-19 patients being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Of these, 40 cases need help with breathing.

“The latest death is a 62-year-old man with a history of diabetes. He had a close contact history with the Covid-19 positive case in the Sri Petaling tabligh cluster (case 159). He was treated at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Sabah since March 17 and passed away on April 10, at 8.21am,” he said.

He said the second death involved a 77-year-old man with a history of diabetes as well. He had been treated in Hospital Kuala Lumpur since March 27 and passed away on April 10, at 4am.

Dr Noor Hisham added that the last case is an 88-year-old woman with a history of hypertension, heart disease and dementia. She had a history of close contacts with positive cases of Covid-19.
