COVID-19: Upward trend continues; another new record today

MALAYSIA has confirmed another record high of 11,618 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the cumulative total to 867,567.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported that 6,377 patients have recovered from the infection, with the total discharged now stands at 759,705.

He noted that out of the total new cases recorded, 11,592 cases were local transmissions.

Currently, there are 101,359 active cases, in which 878 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 432 of them in need of ventilator support.

Dr Noor Hisham also announced that 118 people have succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities to 6,503.

Selangor continues to record the highest number of cases (5,051), followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,749) and Negri Sembilan (1,537). – July 14, 2021
