COVID-19: With daily cases nearing 7k, do we need to revamp our crisis response?

MALAYSIA recorded a daily infection rate of 6,983 cases today, bringing the cumulative total to 758,967.

In a tweet, Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also announced that 5,580 patients have been cured, with the total discharged now stands at 688,260.

“Eighty-four people have succumbed today, bringing the death tally to 5,254,” he added.

Selangor recorded the highest number of fresh cases with 2,885, followed by Kuala Lumpur (988), Negeri Sembilan (692) and Sarawak (544).

“Of the current active cases, 917 patients are still in receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU), with 455 of them in need of ventilator support,” he remarked. – June 29, 2021.
