Crisis in Melaka: Beware of enemies from within, Kadir Jasin tells PM

A FORMER Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) leader urged Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob to take stock on what is happening in Melaka and be cautious when dealing with his allies.

“Ismail should be careful as the Gang of 15 ousted his predecessor Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who hails from Bersatu.

“This gang has tasted ‘blood’. So, be careful as “Dracula’ may take form in Umno,” said A Kadir Jasin, in a Facebook post.

Yesterday, four Melaka state assemblypersons held a press conference to announce that they had withdrawn support from Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali (UMNO).

“We have already sent a letter to Sulaiman on the matter and are willing to face disciplinary action from the party,” Malaysiakini reported Sungai Udang state assemblyperson Datuk Seri Idris Haron (UMNO) as saying.

Also present alongside Idris were Pantai Kundur assemblyperson Datuk Nor Azman Hassan (UMNO), Pengkalan Batu assemblyperson Norhizam Hassan Baktee (Independent) and Telok Mas assemblyperson Noor Effandi Ahmad (Bersatu).

The situation is peculiar as Sulaiman is being thrown out by his own party man. As a result, UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi called for the state assembly to be dissolved and call for snap polls.

On that note, Kadir said that Ismail may be feeling secure due to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between him and Pakatan Harapan.

However, he cautioned the Bera MP that his foes may not come from Pakatan but within his own party.

“Take UMNO deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan for example. He is generally known as a decent man, capable of becoming the party’s supremo.

“But he was reported to have spoken out against the MoU saying the Government’s policies are not in tune with the party’s stand.

“But some have said that Ismail should become party president. If he can produce results within 100 days, the people may support him,” Kadir mentioned. – Oct 5, 2021.
