DBKL to take action on Thai Hot Guys event

AFTER getting chastised by PAS and Bersatu for turning a blind eye on the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender)-centric Thai Hot Guys event, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is now reviewing the regulations and conditions to take enforcement action if the organisers violate them.

Kota Baru MP Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said local bar, the Privacy Club Tun Razak, which is the event’s venue, had “insulted” former prime minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein by putting his name in its corporate label and that the event set for March 30 coincided with the holy month of Ramadan.

During a preliminary examination by the DBKL, it was discovered that the premises are licenced as a restaurant by Beijing 9 Sdn Bhd. The company’s restaurant licence, however, expired on Feb 4, 2021.

Moreover, neither a licence for entertainment nor an application to conduct entertainment activities are present on the property.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong said the event has nothing to do with the Malaysia Madani agenda.

“The Malaysia Madani framework is to cover all Malaysians and with such an agenda, don’t associate (it with the event). The government has no such programmes mentioned by Fadhli,” Wilson told Pasir Mas MP Ahmad Fadhli Shaari in the Dewan Rakyat today.

Furthermore, Wilson urged that such unhealthy programme not be not continued under the Malaysia Madani (agenda).

He added that Malaysia Madani is an initiative to develop the people such as the hardcore poor who are facing rising cost of living.

In a separate statement, PAS Dewan Ulamak leader Datuk Ahmad Saad @ Yahaya claimed that the event violates rules established in the Syariah Criminal Offences (Federal Territories) Act 1997 due to the male performers dressed in lingerie.

He further asserted that an increase in HIV cases will be caused by the homosexual community’s “attraction” to Thai Hot Guys.

Earlier, the office of the political secretary to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has received information on the entertainment event planned by the Privacy Club at Jalan Tun Razak on March 30 beginning at 6pm.

According to the advertisement on the bar’s Facebook page, the primary attraction will be a hefty male waiter from Thailand masquerading as a lady known as the Thai Hot Guys. — March 22, 2023
