Don’t be a smartphone zombie

SOME people are engrossed with using their smartphones and are too attached to it, so much so they are oblivious to their surroundings.

I have seen pedestrians looking down at their gadget all the time instead of the road ahead.

This is a cause for concern as there is great danger involved in doing so.

They need to be alert to sights and sounds as this is not a public park or sports complex where there are no vehicles.

It’s is a public road with cars and other vehicles, and even if it’s in a controlled environment there are other pedestrians around.

You might bump into someone or something when you lose focus even for a split second.

To make matters worse some of them have earphones attached and this will greatly impair their hearing to approaching cars, horn blares and even natural sounds.

There is also an ergonomic element involved if one is always looking down to focus on their smartphones.

I humbly urge these people to look up, focus and be alert. Your actions of being too preoccupied with smartphones may cause an accident to yourself and others. Such accidents can be avoided.

There is a right time and place where you can give your undivided attention to your gadget and it’s certainly not while you are walking on the streets.

Reflect on your actions before it is too late.
