UMNO Youth head becomes ‘spokesman’ in banner to remind voters they “can boycott KK Mart but not KKB by-election”

DEFIANT UMNO Youth Chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh was fascinated at a Mandarin banner of him in Kuala Kubu Baharu (KKB) even though he is not contesting in the upcoming state by-election.

Most probably targeting the Chinese electorate, the banner bearing Akmal’s face and name on one side and the DAP candidate Pang Sock Tao on the other ‘quoted’ the controversial Merlimau state assemblyman as having uttered: “You can boycott KK Mart but don’t boycott KKB (by-election). Please vote for DAP.”

While one wonders whether the blanket boycott called by the Melaka state executive councillor for rural development, agriculture and food security has been lifted after His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim King of Malaysia called for truce, Akmal was quick to take a pot shot at those responsible for putting up the banner.

“I’m not competing even though my face appears on a banner in KKB. Just say aloud that you guys miss me if you guys feel so 😎😎😎,” he penned in his latest Facebook post.

“We should confront each other man-to-man; if you just put the person’s face on the banner and then run away, that’s what we call a pondan (literally transvestite; meaning to say coward).😊”

Interestingly, Akmal in a social media post soon after the KKB by-election nomination day on Saturday (April 27) did not state his preferred candidate even though his party’s president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi went all out to campaign for Pang who is the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate.

“Good luck to all the KKB by-election candidates. The KKB by-election outcome will not be able to change the position of the state or central government but it will nevertheless send a clear message from the people to all leaders,” he penned on his FB page.

“To KKB voters you represent the voice of Malaysians at this moment in time. If you want to choose a leader, don’t choose a hypocrite leader. May Allah ease all the affairs of this by-election.”

DAP’s 31-year-old debutant politician Pang who is the press secretary to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming will take on 54-year-old Khairul Azhari Saut who is also the Bersatu Hulu Selangor acting division chief and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin in a three-cornered fight on May 11. – May 2, 2024
