Expat gets trolled over claim 50 Malay men grabbed her breasts from Central Market to Shangri-la

MALAYSIA is a land populated by perverts, molesters and sexual predators.

That seems to be the underlying message from a comment by an expatriate who had experience living here. She makes the fantastical claim that while walking from Central Market to Shangri-la, up to 50 men grabbed her breasts!

She seems to be replying to a thread discussing safety in certain cities, notably in India. She decided to pitch in with her observation about the behaviour of local males in Kuala Lumpur, specifically stating that the perpetrators were “all Malay”.

The lady claims this was a common occurrence suffered by most “white women” living in KL and that she had brought up the issue with “senior political leaders” who apparently laughed off her complaint.

She concluded that a “decent country” would have prosecuted such rampant incidences of sexual assault.

The comment made by user @ChristineHillCo was shared on MalaysiaNewsHub on X (formerly Twitter) has generated a lot of feedback from nonplussed Malaysians.

Here is a sample.

The sarcasm of many was palpable.

A couple of netizens suggested if she had claimed one or two incidences, it would have been believable. To suggest she was groped by 50 men during a stroll in a busy city centre indicated that she was quite possibly mentally unhinged.

Another echoed this sentiment saying that any sane person would have screamed for help the moment she was assaulted the first time – or would have lodged a police report – instead of continuing with her perilous journey through the uncivilised jungle that is KL.

Since she deemed it okay to make such a comment that tarnished the country’s reputation, some netizens decided to highlight some home truths about her appearance. The gist of these comments was – was she so incredibly attractive to have triggered lust in 50 random men?

The answer the netizens are suggesting is quite simply ‘no’.

One even suggested that perhaps that this scenario was what @ChristineHillCo fantasised about and was venting that her dreams did not come true.

A couple of netizens queried whether there was a hidden agenda behind this post in targeting a specific group to blame.

However, there were some who sought to lay blame at the door of foreign workers who populated the area, especially on weekends.

It must be pointed out here that while Malaysians took great umbrage at this accusation, some did not see it as a problem by laying it at the door of migrant workers. The hypocrisy is somewhat appalling.

Yes, the vast majority of the comments are nasty and vindictive. But this was to be expected given the nature of the accusation.

In making the unsubstantiated claim, she has tarnished the reputation of the city (and country) by calling into question the moral fibre of Malay males.

Saving the best for last, one netizen retorted that he wouldn’t do it, even if he was paid to do so. – March 12, 2024
