Exploring the wonders of Sarawak at the 2021 MATTA Fair

HOLIDAYMAKERS are invited to experience the best the Land of the Hornbills has to offer at the 2021 MATTA fair happening at the World Trade Centre (WTC) Kuala Lumpur.

Taking place from 20-21 Nov 2021, the fair will see the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) and eight of its industry partners showcasing affordable holiday gateways that will give travellers a taste of the state’s authenticity.

According to STB chief executive officer Sharzede Datu Haji Salleh Askor, Sarawak’s blend of culture, wildlife, cuisine and history means that it is worlds apart from other destinations in Malaysia.

“Whether it is experiencing the unique culture of Sarawak’s many indigenous communities, walking through wildlife-packed national parks or exploring gigantic caves in the UNESCO World Heritage of Gunung Mulu National Park, our state offers experiences like no other,” she said.

“We encourage holidaymakers to take advantage of the packages offered during the MATTA fair as these have been customised to ensure travellers have holistic, authentic, Sarawak experiences.”

At the upcoming MATTA fair, visitors will be spoilt for choices with about 50 tour and room packages at booth number 4033 and 4040 in Hall 4 of WTC.

STB will take up eight booths featuring travel agencies namely Borneo Adventure, Brighton Travel & Tour, CPH Travel Services, Cat City Holidays Sdn Bhd, Great Leap Tours Sdn Bhd and Transworld Travel.

The Waterfront Hotel will be the only hotel representative present.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to try their hand at Sarawak-themed puzzles and take home unique souvenirs.

STB will also be giving away authentic kek lapis and bottles of black & white pepper to give visitors a taste of Sarawak.

“This fair also offers us the opportunity to revive Sarawak’s brand and for our industry members to reconnect with their network in West Malaysia.

“Our participation in this fair is also part of our continued strategy to encourage holidaymakers from West Malaysia to travel to Sarawak,” Sharzede added.

The on-going “Jom Ke Sarawak” interstate campaign by STB in collaboration with Sarawak Tourism Federation (STF), Association of Sarawak Inbound Agencies (ASIA) and Shopee Malaysia, which was launched in Oct 2021 offers 16 tour packages as low as RM176 for a three-day, two-night stay for a minimum of 2 pax per package to many attractive destinations in Kuching, Miri and Sibu.

Those interested can do their bookings until Dec 5, 2021 through Shopee Malaysia’s platform with travel period starting from Oct 15 to Dec 15th, 2021.
