THE FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) recovered from yesterday’s losses to close marginally higher on Friday, driven by bargain hunting in banking and telecommunications stocks, despite the downbeat performance in regional bourses.
At 5pm, the benchmark index edged up 1.60 points, or 0.10 per cent, to 1,602.41 from Thursday’s close of 1,600.81.
The FBM KLCI opened 2.73 points higher at 1,603.54 and moved between 1,599.71 and 1,605.74 throughout the day.
The overall market breadth was slightly negative with 530 losers and 443 gainers, while 551 counters were unchanged, 845 untraded, and 19 others suspended.
Turnover narrowed to 2.52 billion units valued at RM2.42 bil against Thursday’s 3.49 billion units valued at RM2.93 bil. – Jan 10, 2025
